San Jose City Council Certifies Ballpark SEIR

In a unanimous vote tonight, the San Jose City Council certified the proposed stadium's Supplemental Environmental Impact Report (SEIR). Public comments were overwhelmingly in favor of the project, though, not surprisingly, a representative for Stand for San Jose (or as Councilmember Liccardo referred to them: Stand for San Francisco) urged the city to reject the report.

Thank you to all those who came out tonight in support of Major League Ball in San Jose. And congratulations, you're one step closer to bringing the A's to town.

You're up to bat, San Jose!

  1. Does San Jose go ahead with a vote in November even if there's no agreement with MLB over territorial rights?

  2. That is indeed possible, though obviously not the city's preferred route. Terrible of MLB to potentially send this to the ballot without both TR settled and a stadium plan in place.

  3. My impression was that the vote goes ahead no matter what. Though, it wouldn't be ideal w/o MLB's ok.
